Big names to play the inaugural edition of the Sindh Premier League

Prominent names of Pakistan cricket will be in action to play the first edition of the Sindh Premier League (SPL) starting January 25.

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi will represent Benazirabad, while fast bowler Shahnawaz Durman will play for Larkana Challengers. Hard-hitting batsman Sharjeel Khan will wear the Sukkur Patriots jersey.

Wasim Akram is the president of Hyderabad Bahadurs while Misbah-ul-Haq is the head coach.

Meanwhile, Moin Khan is the head coach of Mirpurkhas Tigers while Shoaib Akhtar is the team’s brand ambassador.

National cricketers are excited to participate in the SPL. Shahnawaz Durmani, Sharjeel Khan, and Asad Shafiq recorded their video messages posted on SPL’s social platforms.

The highly anticipated event will feature six teams including Benazirabad Reds, Hyderabad Braves, Karachi Gladiators, Khairpur Royals, Larkana Challengers, and Sukkur Patriots.

It may be recalled that the SPL was scheduled to run from December 14 to 25 but was postponed due to a clash with the ongoing President’s Trophy by PCB.

In a statement, the SPL management announced the rescheduling.

“After careful consideration and in the interest of enhancing the overall experience of the league, the Organizing Committee has decided to reschedule the SPL from January 25 to February 5, 2024.

“This extension allows us to diligently plan and execute an event that maintains the standards of excellence expected of the SPL. The decision was made after a comprehensive review aimed at all involved. is to ensure a more conducive environment for participation and enjoyment,” the statement concluded.
