Iftikhar Ahmed claims a record as a Pakistani batterMiddle-order batsman Iftikhar Ahmed scored a brilliant half-century in the third match of the five-match T20 series against New Zealand at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

The right-handed batsman scored a 24-ball 60, which included three fours and six sixes, to form a 61-run partnership for the eighth wicket with Faheem Ashraf.

Meanwhile, Iftikhar Ahmed overtook West Indian batsman Johnson Charles to make it to the list of most sixes in T20 cricket this year.

Iftikhar has now hit a total of 44 more sixes in 24 T20 innings while Charles has hit 40 sixes in 12 innings. South African batsman Riley Russo is third with 37 sixes in 30 innings.

Australia’s Tim David is fourth with 34 sixes in 21 innings, while Faf du Plessis is in fifth position with 32 sixes in 17 innings.

It should be remembered that in the third T20 match of the series against New Zealand, the host Pakistan was defeated by 4 runs after a sensational match.

But they returned to the pavilion by scoring 60 runs and thus the Green Shirts failed to win the match by just 4 runs. Iftikhar Ahmed’s innings included 6 sixes and 3 fours while he batted with a strike of 250.
