Usme leads Colombia to first World Cup quarter-finals, Colombia’s women’s team reached the quarter-final round after defeating Jamaica 0-1 in the main match of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. 33-year-old Maria Catalina Esme Pineda scored the only goal and contributed to her team’s victory.

The women’s teams of Colombia and Jamaica faced each other in the pre-quarterfinal match of the mega event played at the Melbourne Racquet Angel Stadium on Tuesday, in which the first half of the match between the two teams remained goalless.

In the second half, 33-year-old Maria Catalina Esme Pineda of the Colombian women’s team scored a goal in the 51st minute of the match to give her team a 0-1 lead against the Jamaican women’s team, which remained until the end of the match.

The Jamaican team tried hard to score but could not succeed. With this victory, the Colombian women’s team qualified for the quarter-finals of the mega event.

In the quarter-final round, Colombia will face the women’s team of England.
