Pakistan kicked off their Asia Cup 2023 campaign by defeating Nepal by 238 runs on Wednesday. Meanwhile, India will open their tournament with a match against arch-rivals Pakistan.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam is just six runs away from breaking Virat Kohli’s record of fastest 2000 ODI runs. Kohli scored 2,000 ODI runs in 36 innings as captain and Azam scored 1,994 runs in just 30 innings after scoring 151 against Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023 opener on Wednesday. India’s star batsman Virat Kohli is also on the verge of another milestone.

The right-hander is just 102 runs away from scoring 13,000 runs in ODIs, becoming only the second Indian to achieve the milestone. Kohli has currently scored 12,898 runs in 275 matches at an average of 57.32, with 46 centuries and 65 half-centuries, with the highest being 183 runs.

Asia Cup 2023 will be played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka between August 30 and September 17. Four matches will be played in Pakistan while 9 matches including the final will be played in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan is in Group A along with Nepal and India. Meanwhile, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka are in Group B. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2023.
