AFC U-23 Asian Cup: Saudi Arabia reach quarter-finals

In the AFC U-23 Asian Cup football tournament played in Qatar, the Saudi Arabian team secured a place in the quarter-finals with 6 points in Group C.

According to Arab News, the Iraq team reached the quarter-finals by defeating the Saudi Arabia Under-23 team 1-2 at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha on Monday.

In the last match of Group C, the Saudi team entered the field with six points against Iraq, Iraq and Saudi Arabia are on the first and second place respectively in the group.

Saudi Arabia reach quarter-finals

Earlier, the Saudi Arabian team reached the quarter-finals after defeating Tajikistan by 4 goals to 2 and Thailand by 0-5.

Teams from Tajikistan and Thailand finished third and fourth in Group C with three and three points respectively.

Iraq’s Ali Jassim gave the team the lead with a penalty in the first minute of extra time in the first half, but Ahmed Al Ghamdi of the Saudi team scored in the last minute of extra time to equalize the match.

The game was exciting from the start in the second half and Iraq’s Mustafa Saadoun scored in the 63rd minute to give his team the lead that led to their victory.

China defeated UAE 1-2

South Korea and Japan had qualified for the quarter-finals from the group before the final matches of the round.

16 nations were divided into four groups in the AFC U-23 Asian Cup. Fotoxmingal has the final round of Group D matches remaining, with Uzbekistan taking on Vietnam and Kuwait taking on Malaysia, but Uzbekistan and Vietnam have already collected six points each.

In the AFC U-23 Asian Cup, 16 nations are divided into four groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarter-finals. The final of the tournament will be played on May 3.
