Babar Azam doesn’t get a place in the T20 squad, say Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim

Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim and former Test cricketer Mohammad Amir expressed their opinion on Babar Azam’s place in the national T20 cricket team, saying that Babar does not deserve a place in the shorter format of the game. Speaking to a local news channel, Imad Wasim commented on the matter, calling it a “tough call” but stressed that Babar Azam might not be eligible for a place in the T20 squad.

Imad Wasim said, ‘It’s a tough call but Babar Azam doesn’t deserve a place in T20s. Amir echoed Imad’s sentiments bluntly saying “Babar is not fit to be in the T20 team.”

It should be noted that Babar Azam has played 104 T20 International matches in which he has scored 3485 runs at an average of 41.48 and a strike rate of 128.40, including 3 centuries and 30 fifties. He has also been the number-one batsman in the T20 rankings for a long time.

Shan Masood Test and Shaheen Shah Afridi appointed captain of the T20 team

Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed Test batsman Shan Masood and fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi as captains of the T20 team.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has said in a statement on X (Twitter) that Shan Masood has been appointed as the captain of the national team in Tests while Shaheen Shah Afridi will lead Pakistan in T20.

The board has not made any announcement regarding the captain of the national team in the ODI Marmite.

Earlier, Babar Azam had announced his resignation from the captaincy of the team.
In his statement on X, Babar Azam said that he has decided to resign from the captaincy of all three formats.

“It’s a tough decision but I feel it’s the right time for this decision,” Babar Azam said.

Babar Azam wrote that ‘Becoming the number one team in the white ball format was a collective effort of the entire team, coaches, and management.’

He further wrote that ‘in the last four years I have experienced ups and downs but I have tried with all my heart and passion to restore the honor and pride of Pakistan in the world of cricket.’

Babar Azam said that I will continue to represent the Pakistani team as a player in all three formats. I will continue to support the new captain and the team in the light of my experiences.
