Shaheen Afridi likely to be ‘rested’ for Sydney Test

Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is likely to be rested for the third and final Sydney Test of Australia’s tour. According to Geo News, if Pakistan loses the second Test against Australia, Shaheen Afridi will be rested. The team management wanted Shaheen Afridi to be fresh ahead of the T20I series against New Zealand starting on January 12.

Sources said that Shaheen Afridi is tired due to back-to-back matches.

The five-day Sydney Test will begin on January 3 and end on January 7, after which the T20 series against New Zealand will be just a few days away.

On 17 December, Nathan Lyon took his 500th Test wicket as Australia bowled out Pakistan for just 89 runs in an emphatic 360-run win in the first Test in Perth.

Pakistan’s bid for their first Test win in Australia since 1995 was thwarted by a formidable home side attack that wrapped up the game inside four days.
