Sri Lanka Cricket Board sacked for poor performance in World Cup, Sri Lanka’s Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe has dismissed the National Cricket Board for the poor performance of the cricket team in the ICC ODI World Cup.

According to the news agency AFP, in a statement on Monday, Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe severely criticized Sri Lanka Cricket and accused it of corruption.

He demanded immediate resignation from the board members. Subsequently, Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary Mohan De Silva, who held the second-highest position in the board, resigned amid fan protests outside the board’s headquarters on Saturday.

1996 World Cup winning team captain Arjuna Rana Tinga has been appointed as the interim chairman of the board.

Sri Lanka are currently seventh in the points table with just four points from seven matches.

The Sri Lankan cricket team’s record consists of two wins and five losses. Sri Lanka have to win their remaining two matches to secure the coveted fourth position.

In the 33rd match of the ICC Cricket World Cup on November 2, India defeated Sri Lanka by a huge margin of 302 runs.

Chasing the target of 358 runs set by India, the entire Sri Lankan team was bowled out for 55 runs in the 20th over.
