Kane says England can be proud of the Euro qualifying campaign

Kane says England can be proud of the Euro qualifying campaign, England ended their European Championship qualifying campaign with a 1-1 draw in North Macedonia on Monday but captain Harry Kane said they had something to be proud of after topping their group and finishing six points clear of Italy. There’s a lot.

England are two games away from qualifying for next year’s finals in Germany and Monday’s draw left them unbeaten in Group C.

Gareth Southgate’s side fell behind in Skopje when debutant Rico Lewis was penalized for a foul inside the box and Anees Bardhi scored the follow-up after saving the penalty.

They got back on level terms in the second half through a Johnny Atanasov own goal.

“Tough sport, we knew it was going to be and it turned into difficult to play towards a respectable side on a pitch that doesn’t play our fashion of football,” Kane, who came on inside the second half, told Channel 4. “If every person become going to get every other (goal) it become us.

We’re really proud of how the qualifying campaign went.” Full-back Kyle Walker, who wore the captain’s armband for the first time, said England should have won the match.

“It’s been a short week, video games while we’ve got already qualified,” he brought. “It’s now not an excuse, we know we must take the 3 points from right here but it is something to paintings on for the future.”
