Pakistan will host the Olympic hockey qualifiers next year. The event will be held from January 13 to 21 in Lahore.
In the qualifiers, 8 teams will compete for a place in the Paris Olympics. The top three teams from the tournament will qualify for the Olympics.
“It’s an honor to host FIH’s event.”Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Secretary Haider Hussain while talking to Geo News said that it is an honor to host the FIH event, after the 1990 World Cup, Pakistan will host the 8-team tournament.
Haider Hussain says that in 2018, Pakistan hosted the Hockey Series Open with only 4 teams, in the 2004 Champions Trophy, 6 teams came to Pakistan.
“We are grateful to FIH for trusting us,” he said, adding that the stadium was packed with fans in the 1990 World Cup.
He also said that it is desired that fans come to the stadium in this event like the 1990 World Cup.
