PHF received a grant of Rs 25 million for the Asian Champions Trophy in India

PHF received a grant of Rs 25 million for the Asian Champions Trophy in India, The federal government has allocated 25 million rupees for the financial support of the PHF for the participation of the national hockey team in the Asian Champions Trophy 2023. With the mega event in India coming up in August, it holds significant significance as a good performance in it will serve as the national team’s qualifier for the Paris Olympics 2024.

The government’s decision to provide financial assistance was inspired by the team’s exceptional performance in the Junior Asia Cup held in Oman.

Pakistan’s qualification for the upcoming Junior Hockey World Cup 2023 in Malaysia in December has further strengthened the decision to support the senior team.

On the other hand, the preparation camp of the national team is starting today in the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore, on the first day of which the fitness test of all the players will be taken.

Players who fail the initial fitness test will be given 10 days to improve their fitness level and will have an opportunity to retake the test during their stay in the camp.

An Islamabad-based official expressed his commitment to helping the PHF in training the players for the India event to be held a month before the Asian Games in China.

The official further highlighted that success in the upcoming Asian Games would guarantee a berth in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The official hoped that the allocated funds would be effectively utilized to enhance the players’ skills in both the Champions Trophy and the Asian Games.
